Right now I am paying .35 per CCF If I were to sign a contract with IGS Energy I would pay .499 CCFthe first year, decreasing to .47 the second year, and 1.45 per CCFthe third year.
Is it smart to lock in a price for natural gas that is .15 cents MORE then what [...]

If the oil price is projected so far ahead why does the national petrol/diesel price rise so often in small increments. Could the fuel authorities not work thier increases out on a more once off basis by looking at the forecasted oil price figures.

I often hear in the news about how the price of a barrel of crude oil has either gone up or down (mostly up) and was wondering how that directly relates to the cost for gas by the gallon at the pump?
Any ideas?

The moratorium has been in place since 1981. Please include your state in your answer and why you support or oppose. Thanks!
to clarify: a moratorium on NEW drilling, not existing drill sites
some good answers here. What role should states' rights have in this issue? If a state votes to ban [...]

I keep reading about it been illegal to slant drill in Texas, but I can't find a law reference. We were told at a recent seminar in Fort Worth that the oil companies would use a single platform to directional drill for gas in our neighborhood and the platform would be at least 600 feet [...]

Is there anyway to accurately compare home heating oil prices with natural gas prices since both use different units of measurement for usage and price?
Thanks.

Even a nitwit like me understands that oil will go up to over 0, so I want to make use of today's bargain price. What gives me the best leverage at the least cost / hassle? Triple leveraged ETF"s, options, futures ? Can anyone describe the pro's and con's in a nutshell?

I am talking about companies that buy and refine the oil not the companies that actually sell the crude. When the price of wheat goes up, you don’t see bakers making record profits so how do oil companies pull this off?

In 1981, when regulations were holding the price of natural gas below its free-market level, then-Congressman Jack Kemp of New York said the following in an interview with the New York Times: "We need to decontrol natural gas, and get production of natural gas up to a higher level so we can bring down [...]

Just when the price of oil falls below $ 40 a barrel. It's lowest level in years. All of a sudden there is an explosion of violence in the Middle East, Russia shuts off gas to Ukraine, and OPEC cuts production.
Instant 20% jump in oil prices … I think the Oil companies have a hand [...]

Has there been any actual studies of what the price of gas would be in the US if we ramp up offshore drilling? Will it go down by .10 cents, or will it go down by or more. In other words, is it worth it? Should we spend the start up cost on just [...]

You know here's a prediction, as soon as this gas price crisis starts hitting liberals in the wallet, they will miraculously forget about all their environmental "causes" and start begging congress to start letting oil companies drill in the U.S.

I don’t know it is hard to say since I don’t live in Utah. I am an environmentalist though and I don’t think drilling is necessarily that bad if it is not cutting down trees or harming much life. How big could some gas and oil pipes be anyhow.

If crude oil prices continue to fall and stay around a hundred per barrel, shouldn't airlines stop charging for check-in baggage? I could understand if you carry more than 2 check-in baggages but with just one check-in baggage… Wasn't that the main reason why airlines started charging for check-in luggage in the first place? [...]

Experts have called Pickens plan to shift fuel from oil to natural gas similar to "jumping out of the frying pan into the fire."
Does that sound like a great idea?
Why isn't Pickens just calling for us to use more nuclear plants. France gets 80% of their electricity from nuclear energy. Why don't we? [...]
