The land owners have not lived on the island since 1964. In fact, the land owner just passed away, and his two surviving sons living in Canada are trying to figure out what to do about the squatters living on their Father’s land in Sao Miguel.

I am puzzled with what is driving up oil price from 50 to 150 dollar per barrel in less than 2 year’s time. Isn’t the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan serve to secure oil supply? Some factors that I can think of are:
1. increasing demand from China and india
2. reducing OPEC production
3. weakening of dollar
4. [...]

The oil companies always report increased profits, usually record profit increases. Is there any other industry that anyone can think of [...]

Why is the oil price rising? Are these guys raising the oil prices just to suck the juices out of other nations that do not have oil reserve?

The way NAFTA is set up,
the highest bid buys the oil
no matter what country
McCain likes the free trade
the way it is, and doesn’t want
any changes to it
So if the Saudis out-bid Exxon/Mobile,
we will still pay roughly the same high
prices for gasoline
only it will be the Saudis selling us
what is supposed to be our own oil

I mean, gas prices are insane, but it’s not like there’s absolutly no alternatives.
we got a natural gas truck a few weeks ago, and have already managed to save like 0.
of course, if everyone was using natural gas, the price would go up some, but definatly not 4 bucks.
