quote 1
Republican opponents said the legislation ignored the need to produce more domestic oil, natural gas and coal. One GOP lawmaker bemoaned "the pure venom … against the oil and gas industry."
Democrats avoided a nasty fight by ignoring — at least for the time being [...]

How much energy do the major oil companies use up to extract out the oil currently per barrel? I am attempting to work out a carbon footprint, but cannot find how much CO2 is used simply to get the oil, from things such as the mining drilling equipment and processing.
Thanks, Ed

U.S. reserves are less than 3% of the global reserves. Energy prices are set by the global market, and we don’t have enough to affect the global price. And unlike many oil rich countries, our oil industry isn’t nationalized with fixed prices domestically.. This means when the U.S. companies drill, they sell for the highest [...]

American women’s right to vote came after blacks, whose right to vote came after white non-land-owners.
Will women be last, again, for American presidency?

Its stupid drilling for oil in the U.S. and off shore
Its good that gas prices are high cause it forces people to conserve and use less and that decreases global warming.
I am against any new drilling and I will personally fight against it

There were lots of (supposed) reasons why the price of oil recently rose to record levels — hurricane season approaching, instability in the Middle East, disruptions with the Alaskan supply, etc, etc.
However, in the recent days, the price of oil has suddenly dropped 25%-30%. What happened to generate that large price change? What [...]

When oil was 0/barrel last summer Americans wanted new sources of domestic oil to help lower the cost of gas, so Bush lifted the ban on offshore drilling.
Now that oil is nearly 1/3 of that price, will Obama return to the policy of tying our hands to "protect beaches" even though that policy is based [...]

Keep in mind that OPEC and other oil-producing countries like Russia have all built refineries in order to sell oil products processed from their country’s secure supply of domestic crude oil. The exporters, OPEC and NON-OPEC all want and often insist that the Oil importing nations and Multinational OILCO’s buy their products rather than their [...]

A study conducted by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology determined the restrictions could raise gasoline prices by 29%, electricity prices by 55% and natural gas prices by 15% by 2015.
A study by the National Association of Manufacturers projected that emissions caps, similar to those previously rejected by the U.S. Senate calling for a [...]

Seems to me that Japan owned Taiwan for 50 years. How did China get it back?
Didn’t the ROC people run away to Taiwan as a "Government in Exile," institute martial law for 40 years, steal the land, enslave the people, impose forced conscription into the military against the Geneva Convention, deny human rights, etc. so [...]
