Can a geotechnical engineer pursue a career in petroleum engineering?

Hi, I am currently a junior pursuing a civil engineering degree. However, after working for a petroleum engineering company, I became extremely interested in the petroleum engineering field. The problem is my university does not offer this as a major.

I was just wondering, does anyone know if it would better my chances of being hired as a petroleum engineer if I choose my concentration to be geotechnical engineering??

My other options as a civil engineer are things such as structures, construction management, and environmental engineering.

Thank you!
