Can I become a Petroleum Engineer with a degree in geology?

Note: I will Also have a technical certificate in petroleum engineering.

    Yes and no. While those are two different degrees, you could work in the petroleum industry with a geology degree, if you get enough work experience you might be able to get hired as an engineer.

    On the other hand, geology (or earth science) usually has the same lower division courses as engineering and computer science (calculus, physics, differential equations, etc.) so you could be a candidate for a masters degree in petroleum engineering depending on the university.

    There’s also a sub-group called engineering geology, although I don’t know much about that.
