Do environmentalists acknowledge the higher risks of imported oil?
80% of Oil imports arrive on SINGLE HULL super tankers.
Just like Exxon Valdez
Other countries do not have to abide by our Double Hull ships laws.
Our environment is in more risk by importing our oil.
We have the best and most advanced drilling technology in the world.
Let us use it!

Yes, but they want a more permanent solution that ends the reliance on oil that is more friendly to the environment, such as solar, wind turbines and even new nuclear power plants.

They along with the majority of our Congress really don’t give a "rats ass" so to speak. SAD SAD SAD when our Politicians are working against this Country and "we the people".

Very good question…obviously if we don’t have to move
oil across the globe, the chance of some disaster is obviously
greatly diminished!
Star for you my friend!

Environmentalists are not known for their intelligence. They thrive on symbolism and emotion. Trying to educate or persuade a zealot is fruitless. It’s kind of like convincing a militant extremist Muslim to take off the explosive jacket……

If it was only that simple. It’s not. Oil is a 19th century technology, particularly for keeping the wheels on the road. This is the 21st century and we have far better ways to keep the wheels on the road. Way back in the 1970’s, we knew about oil’s disadvantages. It had a limited time frame for production. It polluted the air, water and soil. Much of it came from unstable parts of the world and other countries were slowly coming into the market for the same limited amount of oil. In the meanwhile technology moved on to the point where we could get along with a lot less of this stuff, but the politics of the time, the oil establishment and the managment of US auto companies ignored these changes. Raising the CAFE standards year by year starting in the 1970 as suggested by President Carter would have resulted in personal transportation achieving no less than 50 mpg highway mileage….more than twice what it is now. Think about it! We could rely on US produced energy, not be fighting wars in the middle east using borrowed money and still get where we want to go when we want to go there. We could be exporting high mileage cars to the world instead of importing them. We could be way ahead of the wave instead of like junkies wondering how we’re going to find a new ‘connection’ to keep our addiction satisfied. The Oil Mafia sells oil…that’s all they do. Like the street corner dealer, these guys don’t want their customers to get clean….they WANT them to stay addicted. Follow the money! Oddly, with the proper leadership we could live without imported oil AND still have a class ‘A’ transportation system. Slowly reducing the flow of oil will accelerate our movement to better technology…and who, except for the oil establishment and the people that their propaganda has duped is against that? This is what the ‘environmentalists’ have been saying. That’s the message. Take it or leave it! No kiddin’!
