Does Obama want us to continue to be addicted to foreign oil?

President Obama is shelving a plan announced in the final days of the Bush presidency to open much of the U.S. coast to oil and gas drilling, including 130 million acres off California’s shores from Mendocino to San Diego.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar put the plan on hold Tuesday while his agency conducts a 180-day review. But Salazar’s critical comments about the proposal made clear that the new administration will rewrite it if not completely scrap it.
"It opened the possibility of oil and gas leases along the entire Eastern seaboard, portions of offshore California and the far eastern Gulf of Mexico with almost no consultation from states, industry or community input," Salazar said at a news conference in Washington. "In my view, it was a headlong rush of the worst kind."

We need to GET OFF of foreign oil.
The OPEC countries hold an iron grip on our economy because of our essential product, oil.
The reason why prices are low right now is because the credit market is frozen. The greedy speculators of last summer kept bidding up the price of oil through credit.
That’s why a new energy bill is of the essence, with emphasis on alternative fuels. If the stimulus works and the economy starts to rebound, enter the greedy speculators again if we do nothing, especially if a major war breaks out in the Middle East.

It’s $36 a barrel and cheap, why not? Should we spend 10X that to get solar and wind power to spit Hugo Chavez and Ahmendijad?

Obama will do as told by his masters, he’s just a puppet man, a show man to make the people feel good about themselves, always remember "give me control of a nation money supply and I care not who make its law" governments are only puppets.

Ask Nancy Pelosi about this, she has major holdings in so-called "green" companies.

You will also notice that, since the inauguration of Obama, the price of fuel at the pumps has started to climb slowly once again. It would appear that the fix is in. Palms were greased in the form of Campaign contributions, and nothing will happen to end the dependence.
I can remember when there were small independent oil companies. This was before the government ordered all domestic wells to be capped. This Killed Off the independent companies, which is what I think was the goal of the Major Oil Companies (and the politicians in the back pocket of those companies).

No. He’s trying to "greenify" companies. That is the exact opposite of staying addicted. Didn’t you listen to him address the people?
