How come Texas only produces oil when the price is up?

Is this why Texas has no debt? Do they rip off the rest of the other states using their natural gas and oil refineries to suck the blood out of us?

Well ‘Texas’ does not produce oil – Corporations do. Corporations follow the law of supply and demand. They will not spend any money drilling or extracting or developing oil firelds unless the price is high enough to justify it.

Reminds me of that Dilbert cartoon were Dilbert goes to the office manager to get some office supplies, a notepad or something, but "there’s only one left".

She won’t give it to him because if she did then they’d be "all out".
