How do you get oil (crude oil) out of clothes?

My husband recently began a new job where he hauls crude oil. He gets it on his clothes (sometimes all over). How do I get the stains out? I've tried Dawn dish deterdent, something called Greased Lightning, Shout, Spray n Wash, ect… Nothing works. Any ideas?

My father in law was a mechanic and my mother in law always had a spray bottle of petrol which she used as a pre wash spray on any of his over-alls. Worth a try!

I would try Simple Green. It is one of the best products I have used and is harmless to pets and kids.

Hey I worked for years in the oilfield and you might try a product called Go-Jo. Worked on wyoming crude anyway.

You need to soak the stains overnight. Use laundry detergent, the liquid kind, and pour it directly on the spots and leave it on overnight. If this does not work, leave it on for several days before washing as usual.
