How does petroleum affect the environment?

I need answers. Fast. Tomorrow is my last day to work on this project and i need it done badly. Its for science. If you have any other information about petroleum i will be very grateful. It will help me out a lot. if you could give me links to websites too its is highly appreciated.

    Petroleum in the environment refers to the polluting effects of petroleum extraction, refining, and transportation, and encompasses crude oil and any refined oil products such as kerosene or diesel.
