the price of crude affects the cost of air travel. aviation fuel costs even more to produce than auto fuel. a few years ago crude oil was $10 a barrel, now it’s $140 a barrel.
some airlines are "dumping" their older, less efficient jets, canceling flights and laying off employees (pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and other support)
airlines are tacking on huge "fees" to flights (fuel fees to fees for luggage, watch for passenger weight charges (that’ll be fun to watch!) when they weigh passengers and add on surcharges when a fatty checks in)
