petroleum is not magnetics, yet it is used in the petroleum industry. how is it done?

    There are some soil exploration methods, like seismic method, electro magnetic method etc.

    in this electro magnetic method, two metal electrodes are used to transfer electro magnetic radiation to the ground. the depth of exploration is depending upon the distance between these electrodes.

    as you know, the conductivity depends upon mineral content..

    now based on these datas, they can plot profile of the rock and soil layer.

    based on this, we can identify the spots of crude oil, water, etc.
