In fractional distillation, less than the 19 is obtained. But the oil companies do a process called cracking where larger molecules are broken down into gasoline sized molecules.
one gallon of crude usually ends up producing about 0.5 gallons of gasoline, but it depends on the grade. lots of other products, ranging from gas and oil, all the way up to wax and tar

In a 42 gallon crude oil barrel about 19.6 gallons of gasoline are produced. This varies by the oil and the manufacturing.
