How many gallons of Natural Gas should a house use on average?

2 bedroom 1200sqft house.
– Gas house heater
– Gas stove
– Gas fireplace

What if all the appliances are never used for a month (just pilot light on)?

I know it will vary by lifestyle of the user… I am lookng for ballpark numbers.

I got a bill for 86.9 gallons of gas, costing 0
No one even used the house during this month.

Yes I know Nat Gas prices have been rising… just trying to find out if the gas company is ripping me off.

If you are not going to use the house for a week or so, turn off all gas. Do not allow the pilot lights to burn as it is a waste of gas. When you are ready to use light the pilot in that appliance only. There is no way you should have used 86.9 gallons of gas unless you have a leak. Get the gas company to check and you should check your usage figures and take the reading yourself from the meter.

Natural gas is not measured in gallons. It is measured in cubic feet. Hope this helps.
