I would like to know what changes you might make if you knew the following?
1. Price of regular gasoline is .46
2. Price of natural gas is .04
3. Natural gas is available at most filling stations

I don’t have the money to get a new car. The city bus runs off natural gas. So I take the bus while saving up for a hydrogen car.

I’m an old hot rodder and car nut. The tanks for the cng are large. You may have seen pickups with them in the back of the bed. They take up a lot of room.

I’m so glad this isn’t a Palin question. Thank you.

You are leaving out the part about how much it costs to convert a car so that it can use natural gas.
It costs about $250K to $350K to convert a bus.
The ones they are using now are not cost effective.
They are experimental and done with TAXPAYER-funded grants.
I’d rather wait until the private sector makes them competitive.
Then I’ll be happy to buy one.
BTW, please tell Nancy Pelosi that natural gas is a fossil fuel. She doesn’t know this.
She said we could use natural gas and stop using fossil fuels.
LOL
She also doesn’t know that you have to DRILL to get natural gas.
The only gas we get from Congress is HOT AIR.

Not own a car
I can afford to buy one, but I simply do not have any need.
I live in China as a transplanted American and I can take the bus for 7 cents, or a taxi across the city for $1.50, or ride my bike. Or even take a fast train, 120mph from my provinces capital to shanghai in 5 hours on a very comfortable seat for $35.
Gas here is about $1 less per gallon, still way to expensive for many here.
In the USA I dumped my car for the train to work and a motorcycle. I saved an incredible amount of money.
The most money draining thing you will ever own is your home, the second most money draining thing is your car. Your home can go up in value, your car, unless it is a classic will never appreciate.
It is time to consolidate our lives, our working environment and our thinking. We can’t continue to live in a suburban life and depend on our cities for our livelihood. That is so wasteful.
I could go on and on about how we distribute our food, to our shopping habits to show how we have dug a ditch of high oil consumption for the average American.
Peace
Jim
EDIT
Many of the buses in China and cabs (sub compacts) use CNG. The tank takes up half the trunk. It is BS that is costs too much to convert. If China can do it, we can do it, and do it better. But we lack the vision, all we have are excuses.
