Is it possible for a Petroleum Landman to become a millionaire in this economy?

I know they make a good bit but is it possible for an independent landman to Million in one year?
@Bored Goblin- ok then why is my friend’s father who is an independent landman a self-made millionaire?

    There are millionaires in every industry. He probably put together some deals on his own once he learned the ropes. T. Boone Pickens who is a billionaire, has done Landman work, so it is possible for sure. Most landmen make around $100,000 per year and are paid a day rate. If you get in the right situation, you can get a part of the deals which is how you become a millionaire, but there aren’t that many opportunities like that. It is a great line of work though.     I knew a landman once, and he made labout 70 – 80k a year. Don’t know much about the work but not sure how they’d make millions.

    no, it’s not possible. Landmen are hired employees, and whenever their salaries rise, more landmen enter the job market, bringing the salaries down.
