It’s been done. All modern cars in the U.S. use vapor and exhaust gas recycling when driven. Appx. 89% of all petroleum product is burned/consumed and the remaining pollutants are ‘washed’ in the cat. converter — leaving very few harmful particulates in our air. There are some expermental engines that use up to 98% of petrol and we may be seeing them in the future as well.

Unfortunately, you can’t- combustion literally changes the chemical makeup of gasoline. The energy from the molecules has been transformed into heat and work.

The only thing you can do is convert harmful emissions to something less potent. This is the job of a catalytic converter.
