Should I lock in my natural gas price?
So I live in Northern Illinois. The current cost per therm for natural gas is about {content}.45. In 2008 it average about {content}.95. We just locked in for the next five years at {content}.79. Does this seem worth it? I don’t know much about the fluctuation of natural gas prices. I assume they will continue to stay low for a while due to the economy, but for how long? I have 30 days to cancel this deal, so I signed up for it so I can think about it. Anyone have any advice? Does this seem like a good idea or should I cancel since the cost per therm is so low right now? I think they usually do this when they know the cost is going to stay low or even drop more. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
