Should reparations be made to former slave owners?
…. they did have legal possession of them. Seems to make more sense to me to make reparations from those who actually were robbed than the slaves who were rightfully owned. Not saying slavery was right, just that by abolishing it, the government effectively seized their property. What if the government abolishes private land ownership, should we boot land owners off their land as well without a dime of compensation?

Everybody who was a slave and everybody who was a slave owner has been dead for a very long time.
But the answer is no because slavery was morally wrong to begin with so people who owned slaves should not have gotten reparations for dealing in trades that should have been illegal to begin with.

I think all this happened WAY too long ago for anything fair to be decided in this day and age. Slavery is gone and people of all colors have equal right now. We should not forget the past BUT we should not be trying to settle things that happened 100’s of years ago either!

Theoretically, maybe.
But the whole thing just sounds stupid for real, because people aren’t property. So the governement didn’t sieze anyone’s property. It’s as simple as that. The slaves were never rightfully owned, lol. Land ownership is a totally different thing because you can legally own land. You can’t legally own a person, then or now.
White people just want everything to be about them… ya’ll can’t stand it when it ain’t about you!
