The US democratic party supported radical change in zimbabwe, and 7 years ago they got it. the new socialist govt of zimbabwe uprooted white land owners and redistributed the land back to zimbabweans. before this, zimbabwe had an good economy in african standards, it used to export food. now people are unemployed, it exports nothing, [...]

The threat of bad weather affected the oil prices, nothing but speculation. The environazis tell us more drilling will not affect prices, wouldnt lifting the moratorium on oil cause speculators to drop prices almost immediately. Also increase jobs and boost economy with materials for infrastructure being bought.
The most basic rule of economics is more supply [...]

Are we doomed to a permanent entrapment between recession on one hand, and hyper commodity inflation on the other?
It’s not just oil either. It’s food, steel, oil, copper, everything shoots up 300% just because the economy is booming.

I would like to know why we continue to buy oil from OPEC nations but yet we drill off of our own shores, pipe in from Alaska, and own several rigs in the pacific near Mexico and refine it here? Why are we not using our own fuel and rather ship to an off shore [...]

I have read many articles stating how if oil was over 0 a barrel it would be cheaper for to extract either. In particular, I have an understanding that if these resources were tapped, both in North America, the United States would have more oil than three times Saudia Arabia. I am just confused as [...]

Considering we already subsidize its exploration, drilling and refining with tax dollars, and it is a resource from public lands to begin with.
And considering it’s such of tantamount importance to our economy so they say … seems like what the oil companies are doing therefore is called "EXTORTION"

I think hes exactly right. It wasnt necessary back then when gas was like what 2.00. Now when gas is doubled and killing the economy of course we should be lowering our dependence on foreign oil!!

It seems every democratic congress member when on TV, they are all against drilling where we have oil! They all say the same thing- drill where the lease is, but the oil companies say there is no oil where the lease is and they are wasting money and time doing it.
They just [...]

From what I gather, this Cap & Trade policy will not have all that great of an effect on the economy, for example, it will:
Destroy an average of 1-3 million jobs, every year
Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent
Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent
Raise an average family’s annual energy bill by ,500 annually
Increase [...]

Why don’t we turn to the good ole oilfield to get us out of this mess? It sure as hell won’t be green jobs anytime soon so why don’t we start getting our own oil/gas out of the ground in the USA and stop relying on foreign oil? The overseas industry is thinking about taking [...]

I wish America would divest itself of the Arabs, etc, and find a way to be independent of their oil. Until that time, they really seem to have control of our economy. Why do you suppose we have allowed that to happen?

I haven’t heard of any of his solutions on this, although I looked on his website and it said he wants to support Ethnol/Bio/Gas fuels… I sure hope he isn’t planning on using corn for that process.

I won’t forget how he complained about taxing the Oil companies because they would only raise the prices and [...]

John McCain suggested do everything possible for energy now. Nuclear, drill for oil, natural gas, coal, etc…
This would substantially help our economy by not sending money outside the country for energy, and perhaps lowering prices.
Every President elected, since JFK, has promised energy independence. Nothing so far.
Ok, I see some of the answers, get your [...]

Or will they do like they did this time and say it was the republicans fault?
sometimes people take credit for things that maybe they had an effect on, and maybe they didn’t. But over the last couple of years, one of the things we have been doing is we have tried to provide for drilling [...]

Have we already forgotten when Occidental Oil’s Piper Alpha platform exploded in the North Sea in 1988, killing 167 people; or when Union Carbide’s gas plant in Bhopal, India, poisoned an entire town in 1984, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives and the establishment of a poisonous legacy that remains to this day.
Both [...]

Honestly! Now I finally understand why popular mechanics and all the other media, tv, magazines, newspapers have not been doing photos and stories on how (generic) oil companies will plug or stop gas and oil spill accidents. In shallow water and deep water. Disappointing. And how many of you think Bp Gulf of Mexico operation [...]

If he is so intent on doing something NOW, why doesn’t he just freeze the price of gas at a decent price???
Or put more of the existing rigs in TEXAS to work if he wants more oil????
Drilling for oil in our oceans, and trying to drill for oil in Alaska, is NOT the solution for [...]

oil is at 5 a barrel – no one really knows the exact cause, whether it’s speculators, demand from China and India, peak oil…
And obviously, oil is not just for driving – we use oil in almost every single industry. If oil stays at this price, or climbs even higher, it is going to [...]

If a private land owner owns minerals (oil and gas) under a tract of land and the state (government) stops him from developing his private property, for whatever reason, you can sue and win. So while these offshore oil rights are owned by the government (the poeple) why can I not sue if they [...]

I have thought this from day one!! The gasoline and record high natural gas prices and oil prices I think is what really drove the world wide economy over the edge. Money had to spent on energy and not other things!
