Do environmentalists acknowledge the higher risks of imported oil?

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

80% of Oil imports arrive on SINGLE HULL super tankers.
Just like Exxon Valdez
Other countries do not have to abide by our Double Hull ships laws.
Our environment is in more risk by importing our oil.
We have the best and most advanced drilling technology in the world.
Let us use it!

How much will British Petroleum's accident in the Gulf of Mexico cost us?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

The price of gasoline soared after the Exxon Valdez grounded in Alaska. As a matter of a fact, all petroleum companies increased their prices to rescue Exxon… And that was strange to me at the time..
How much are the jewels of the Queen of England worth?
This is a financial burden that American consumers should not [...]

Does anyone think that oil and gas tax breaks are corporate welfare

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

The purpose of these tax breaks is to encourage oil companies to explore for and drill for new oil. The recent revelation that the oil companies are using their profits to buy back there own stock to increase its value, rather than drilling new wells or upgrading and purchasing new equipment runs contrary to the [...]

Why blame Democrats for Offshore Oil Ban?

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Since 1982, oil exploration has been banned offshore of the United States. At the time, the Republican Congress enacted an environmental moratorium against offshore drilling for oil and gas. In 1990, the year after the Exxon Valdez oil tanker disaster, US President George H.W. Bush signed an executive order creating a second, presidential moratorium.
Also, Bush’s [...]

Do conservatives think ANWR affects oil prices more than Bush wars & kowtowing to big oil?

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Conservatives are starting to say that if only we opened ANWR to drilling, oil prices would come down.
They must have missed the Department of Energy study that said opening it would only lower the cost 50 cents a barrel after several years, and maybe a penny of savings would make it to the pump.

Why are Gas prices not causing protests in the street?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Gas was about .25 per gallon when Bush took the Presidentail reins in his first term.
Last week, Big Oil’s first-quarter profit reports came rolling in with more bad news for consumers. On April 26, Exxon/Mobil reported that even though it produced less product than last year, it earned profits of 10 percent on unusually high [...]

Why did Exxon have to be prodded into drilling for oil?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Exxon Mobil says it has begun drilling at Alaska’s Point Thomson oil and gas field.
Patrick McGinn, a company spokesman, says drilling operations were launched Friday.
In February, Exxon returned eight of its Point Thomson leases that were part of 13 added to the field in 2002. Exxon had promised to drill wells and begin producing oil [...]

How to say “Free Hawaii” and “Free Alaska” in Chinese?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

I want to tell Chinese people that Hawaii and Alaska should be free.
America forcibly seized control of Hawaii from its native people in 1893. The Kingdom of Hawaii was overthrown by US Marines and thugs working for American plantation owners. The disenfranchised native Hawaiian people still struggle to maintain their identity.
America purchased [...]

How many liters of petroleum were spilled?

Monday, February 8th, 2010

In March 1989 the Exxon Valdez ran aground and spilled 240,000 barrels of crude petroleum off the coast of Alaska. One barrel of petroleum is equal to 42 gal. How many liters of petroleum were spilled?

Why trust big oil about drilling lowering prices when they paid scientists to lie to us about global warming?

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

Exxon even admitted to paying scientists to lie about global warming and promised not to do it any more (but broke their promise).

If they paid people to lie before to protect their profit margins, why don’t conservatives believe big oil would do it again on [...]

Oil prices are at the lowest levels since early May. Why is our avg price $ per gallon not that low again?

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

In early May, the average price $ per gallon in the U.S. was under per gallon. Right now, with oil back at that previous level, gasoline is still hovering around per gallon. Tell me that Exxon Mobile is not gouging us.
Go Broncos…Theoretically, yes that is the way it is SUPPOSED to happen but [...]

How does the price of crude oil affect the price of oil related stocks?

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

I was just wondering if high crude oil prices make stock prices like exxon mobil rise or fall.

Why do people think that a stateowned oil company that would make gas cheap and employ 1000s is evilCommunism?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

When I lived in Alaska during the 04 elections there was a proposition by some candidate that I don’t know the name of that suggested that Alaska state should allow the residents of Alaska to vote for or against a State owned oil and refinery company. and a month or so before the 04elections the [...]

Why are natural gas and electricity prices regulated by the government, but the price of oil (gasoline) isn’t?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Shouldn’t we be doing something to regulate the profiteering by the oil companies? I’m all for a free-market, capitalist system (I’m a republican at heart), but to allow these greedy bums to make billions in profit each quarter and then to claim that they’re just passing the increase along to the consumer is BS. [...]

Say by some freak chance the congress lets American companies drill offshore for oil and gas?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Would it be better to see Exxon’s profits go through the roof or send that money to Saudi Arabia and Iran?

Why do gas company profits go up when the price of oil goes up?

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

I don’t think gas is all that expensive. It’s just a price we pay attention to and it fluctuates more than other expenses. But it really bothers me that companies like Exxon make greater profits when they have to pay more for oil.

Why do Republicans think drilling for more oil will somehow lower the gas prices?

Monday, September 14th, 2009

The way NAFTA is set up,
the highest bid buys the oil
no matter what country
McCain likes the free trade
the way it is, and doesn’t want
any changes to it
So if the Saudis out-bid Exxon/Mobile,
we will still pay roughly the same high
prices for gasoline
only it will be the Saudis selling us
what is supposed to be our own oil

If drilling for oil in ANWAR will lower the cost of gas – why does Alaska have the highest price for gas?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Miss Kitty: you seriously think there are no oil wells in Alaska???? You’ve never heard of the North slope, Valdez, the Exxon oil spill, or the Alaskan pipeline?
