It was only a few years ago that people were ranting about going into Iraq and how it would lower gas prices, nope they sky rocketed. In the past few years all the major American oil companies stated RECORD PROFITS. Do people understand that the supply of oil has not gone down? The [...]

Since this seems to be the latest hot-button tactic republicans are using to get votes, I wonder what everyone thinks this will get them? Since I know many of you believe it will solve, or even help in some/anyway at the gas pumps please read the following provided by politifact.com and then tell me honestly [...]

Sure, ending foreign dependency on oil is what everyone claims this will do for us, as well as lower gas prices, but is this really the case? How long would it take for us to actually extract/refine the oil before it sees its way into the market? How much would it cost to setup such [...]

America needs abundant and affordable energy.
Lower gas prices would be a consumer tax cut.

…(c.) less shore drilling, higher gas prices, and the biggest oil spill disaster in the history of the USA on Obama’s watch?
Maybe liberals should ride horses so we can reduce our oil consumption.
It bothers me that liberals could care less there is an oil spill in the Gulf when a liberal president is in charge. [...]

But yet they want to drill all over this country knowing full well that it will do nothing to reduce gas prices because oil is bought and sold on the world market. So oil drilled in your back yard goes on the world market.

I got an idea today for a book story, but will have to do a lot of research into oil-gas business.
It is the years 2019 (or maybe sooner not sure), and the world wide need for oil has drained the Middle East. Facing serious reductions in oil production and the unableness of other oil distributors [...]

Some experts predict that at this rate gas is going to hit 7 dollars by the end of summer.
My question is why can’t people boycott gas by buying less gas so rather then buying say 10 gallons of gas a week. Can’t people such as yourself like cut it into half?
I know people talk [...]

Interestingly, not much said on the subject from oil companies, but plenty of hot air from politicians and media talking-heads; that makes me very suspicious. What I have heard is that the fields wouldn’t be online for ten years, so what is expected to happen NOW? Oil/gas prices certainly aren’t going to drop, dependence on [...]

Increased domestic drilling will not lower the price of gas for American consumers. So why are our elected officials buying it?
Under pressure to help consumers, many of our members of Congress are wrongly giving in to the oil and gas industry’s multi-million dollar lobbying campaign to open protected lands and waters to drilling. The [...]

Is it because of his race (shame on you if it is)
his middle name (that is just stupid if it is)
Because media has suggested he is a secret Muslim (that is just plain awful, suggesting that an entire religious faith is made up of no one but terrorists)
Because he is a liberal (we have had [...]

If its in your local National Park?
or lake or sanctuary or backyard.
and you don’t stand to profit at all or benefit in any way.
That is what will happen with McCain/Palin.
My backyard, my local National Park (Channel Islands), no reduced gas prices, oil companies are the only ones who will benefit.
Think about it, don’t just say: [...]

It just seems ridiculous that gas prices are up so much form over a year ago, for that matter since 9/11. Our oil reserves are well above what they were then & production has increased significantly. With the options traders on wall street, and the average investor looking to invest in their future, [...]

America is the 3rd largest oil producing country in the world. if we started drilling in more places we can be more self-sufficient on our oil and the gas prices will be less then they are.and we will be the 1st largest producers of oil.

I think that whenever gas prices are high, airline tickets are high too, right? So if thats right then would it be smart to watch airline prices as well as prices of oil too? I just need to pay the least amount for a ticket as possible, and im wondering if this means anything.

Whenever someone asks a question regarding current events, gas prices, natural disasters, war, global warming, etc. , there’s always someone who posts something to the effect of "Well, the world’s going to end soon, anyway. Nothing really we can do about it." I’ve applied the "aw, screw it" philosphy to some of life’s problems in [...]

I was wondering what people think about crude oil futures reaching an all time high of 9 plus? This is causing gas prices to be on the brink of an all time US high. Meanwhile, the big oil companies are turning in record profits. Isn’t it about time something should be done.

Most have excellent track record of paying dividends over 7%. They do not drill or own the gas. They get paid to store & transport it regardless of Nat Gas prices. Some of these stocks look attractive to me but a major Co.has this entire sub sector rated as "D". Why?

Only serious answers.
Aren’t gas prices controlled, primarily, by future’s projections and gas speculation? And wouldn’t our oil refineries be subject to damage from natural disasters like hurricanes (which are currently driving up prices?) Therefore, every hurricane season we would see even more drastic spikes in price and dips in production?
Why has [...]

It takes a war for oil, sending our troops to die for oil, gas prices skyrocketing, proposing to drill and destroy Alaska (one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. who’s ecosystem is already suffering from warming due to using gas), global warming and middle eastern powers and terrorists having something we need from [...]

WASHINGTON – House Republicans on Thursday scuttled a bill that Democrats hoped would help lower gasoline prices by forcing the Energy Department to release 70 million barrels of oil — about a three-day supply — from the national stockpile.
