I might found out a gas means the price of Oil was about at least 0/Barrel.
Dow was about 14,000 and lost around 60% of the money in months between 2008 and 2009.
14,000 Dow in 2007 and gas in 2008. Today is 11,400 Dow and Gas (/Barrel).
