was there ever a black slave owner in the south?
just wondering if there was ever a documented case of a free black man owning slaves in the south. i mean it wasnt illegal for a black man to own slaves back then was it. black people are all about the money so if there was a black land owner in the south it would be cheaper to have slaves then pay them. right. been wondering this forever just need some clarification from somebody who is really smart and knows alot about this shit.

yes there WERE black slave owners in the south. Its a point always made to justify. But these, like their white counterparts were people of their times.

Yes, there were. About a third of Southern families owned slaves, and some of them were African-American.

Yes, there were black slave owners in the south. There were free black people in the south even in slavery days, and some of them owned slaves. There were some very well off black people in New Orleans for example, and it seems that quite a lot of free black people in New Orleans were slave owners.
