Was this a wise investment, given the current situation in our country?
I just bought a new furnace. The salesman told me that my old one was really inefficient, and a new one would pay for itself over the years. I’m having second thoughts though, I spent A LOT of money on the new one. Was it possible for my old one to increase in efficiency over time? Maybe if I had just Waited, the price of natural gas, or the furnace itself would have dropped. This thing might take longer to pay for itself than I thought.
the old one was literally bleeding money, costing me in excess of 0/mo and increasing every month. It was a "lowboy"if that tells you how old it was. It was the furnace that came with the house I just purchased….My last gas bill was only 0.

You don’t say how old the old one is, which makes it difficult to judge.
But I’m suspecting that the new one is more efficient even if your old one was 5+ years old.
Another thing you can do is call other dealers/installers/HVAC people to get an idea.
Also, you should be able to call your local gas and electric utility provider to get info. on the old compared to the new. They may also have a rebate program in effect for the upgrade, so don’t forget to ask.

hmm, not really wise but people make mistakes. i would have bought a pellet furnace. they seem to be good in my opinion.

anwserme has good suggestions. was any thing wrong with the old furnace did it quit unless it had to be replaced or repaired to get you through till spring i would not have done it right now. heating season is nearly over in some places and. if it would be possible to hold up iwould. then spend the summer saving for a new one and pay as much as possible in cash next fall. it will pay for itself faster without the finance charges.
