We own the 'right' to park our 2cars in a parking area but we don't own the actual spaces.Who pays for upkeep?

Hi there

As I said above, we own the right to park our cars on a parking area owned by our neighbours. We drive across their driveway to enter the parking area so I guess this is called a ‘right or way’.

My question is, who pays for the upkeep of the gravel on the parking area and the hedges surrounding it? Is it up to us or is it up to the actual owners of the land?

Thank you

You will have to look at the official document that granted you this easement (correct term). the document should list any specifics (called the consideration, in law) that you are obligated to perform to maintain this easement. If it was me, I would be extra nice about the whole thing and offer, from time to time, add gravel and trim the hedges. As the neighbor could just as well let the area become a big mud hole that would sink your cars should you drive upon it.

You do. You use it and must maintain it.
