What do you think of this book idea
I got an idea today for a book story, but will have to do a lot of research into oil-gas business.
It is the years 2019 (or maybe sooner not sure), and the world wide need for oil has drained the Middle East. Facing serious reductions in oil production and the unableness of other oil distributors to pick up the tab, the world has to look at other sources.
Russia: a vast land in many areas of untapped resources. It also holds several major oil fields in the Caspian sea the Caucauses mountains and eastern Siberia.
Russia is willing to sell some oil but at high price, and is unwilling to just let everyone have their oil.
A winter goes by that America and some other oil hungry nations face that is very harsh and deadly. Gas prices rise severely and industries which rely on oil begin to fall apart.
By Spring the US can no longer keep its own supply going enough to insure much longer fuel for the country. Off shore drilling and on land is only doing marginal amounts.
Terrorism picks up and several referinies and oil fields world wide are severly damaged.
As Unrest rises, nations start fueding over what to do. Attempts at alternative fuels for cars are helping but not enough.
2021: Nearly 2 years have passed and the world is on the edge of anarchy. Fuel shortages are so bad, that whoever can control the last oil reserves will rule the world.
The US tries one last time to negotiate more oil drilling and specificially in untapped regions of Russia and its republics.
While Russia and the US finalyl come to an agreement, however too much damage has been done.
A large army, forms in Asia and threatens to capture Russia and its oil fields for themselves. The US and a few others must try to protect Russia but at the same time make sure the oil still comes out.
Trouble isnt just there. Many nations seem to take sides in wars all over the planet.
Russia experiences a coup removing a government that had agreed to helping the world, and now says they are keeping the oil for themselves.
The US now must decide how to handle both problems.
Im not sure where all i would take this, but thats the basic beggining.

Sounds exciting for me. Could you please let me know when you publish your book? (unless it ends with "… and they lived happily ever after")
The book is fiction but it’d be better if it had as many facts from the real life as possible. And definitely there must be some kind of a disclosure of some money flow in amounts that we couldn’t even imagine, involving some of the big political figures. I don’t think I have to mention that the main goals of those figures is far not the security of their nations.
Also, as you mentioned a large army in Asia, I think it is very possible that by the time China and India will gain a lot of economical strength, not only military. The US falls in deep dependency with chinese manufacturers. Etc. etc…
Man! there is a whole lot of ways to unleash one’s imagination! Only if I could write. I sincerely wish you a good luck with your book, my friend.
