What influence does petroleum have on economic development? This is a question in my homework, I’m supposed to read the relating articles and form my own answer but I can’t find the relating articles, can anybody help me?

Petroleum has been the source of cheap energy. Cheap energy has fueled our economy throughout history. When cheap energy goes away the economy will have some serious readjusting to do.
