Fossil fuel is an oil based fuel. Oil and petroleum are the same thing. Gasoline is a product of oil/petroleum.

If you’re wondering any further, kerosene is made from petroleum, and can be refined to make jet fuel.

Oil, petroleum and fossil fuels are all words and phrases that are pretty much interchangeable – gasoline is a refined product made from these.
