Who all thinks that Congress and Obama are right concerning this?

This is concerning off shore drilling.

With gas prices reaching record highs, Bush wants Congress to lift ban on offshore drilling

WASHINGTON (AP) — With gasoline topping a gallon, President Bush urged Congress on Wednesday to lift its long-standing ban on offshore oil and gas drilling, saying the United States needs to increase its energy production. Democrats quickly rejected the idea

While Democrates reject the idea of drilling, the states that harbor the most of the the Democratic tree huggers actually use the most gas. They live in rural areas or areas outside of the city in which they work, that is the ones that actually work and pay taxes, while the rest keep the roads busy driving their children back and forth to private schools, gymnastics, soccer, etc., shopping at the big mall on the other side of the state or running to the doctor for every ache or pain they have.

Americans have become dependent on energy, whether it be fuel, electricity or services that require one or both. It appears that the Democratic Party strongly denounce producing alternative energy such as nucluer power, a power source that would eliminate our dependence on foreign countries, countries that hate the United States enough to blow it away without blinking an eye or feeling one atom of regret.

The fact that the gasoline crisis happened or may be pertinent to an election year gives even more rise to the parties seperation of ideas no matter what the needs of its constituents. Politicians are like drug dealers, they do or say whatever they deem necessary to get what they want, no matter the cost.

  2. Calli-Kins-Caliente Says:

this is not a solution, it will add to the problem

even if they start drilling today we will not see a decrease in gas prices for years to come

  3. Michael S Says:

I think that ignoring domestic drilling is foolish policy. Why is it that liberals can’t do the math? You cannot displace oil with renewables alone…not even close. You need a portfolio of energy sources that includes petroleum/nat gas, possibly coal, nuclear, as well as renewables and hydrogen.

  4. cificare Says:

Democrats still think there alliance with the environmentalist will get them more votes than protecting the American people from financial disaster. If the republicans are big oil pawns the democrats are pawns of the green loonies

  5. Caleb's Mom Says:

No, I don’t. I think we need to what is necessary to get the gas prices down some and not rely on foreign oil so much.

  6. regerugged Says:

I don’t think prevention of developing resources makes any logical sense. Politicians are beholding to cash contributing tree hugging left wing liberals. That is the problem.

  7. sandee s Says:

I don’t think we should drill. It won’t do much to lower gas anyway. I would like to point out though that the dems controlling the house and senate have done little else than shoot down energy-related ideas. They’ve had the power to do something else about this for two years and have failed to act at all. If they want to shoot down Bush’s ideas, fine. All the better actually. But where’s their plan of action?

  8. msmanners212 Says:

Relying on people who hate us for a product that is essential for our very lives is fool hardy.

We wouldn’t be in this situation had Clinton not stalled on ANWAR.

While drilling shouldn’t be the only solution, it should be part of the solution. Obama’s idea to do NOTHING but tax oil companies insures higher prices when that tax is passed on to consumers.

  9. Harbinger H Says:

They are wrong. We should be drilling for oil here rather than being dependent on foreign supplies. Offshore drilling occurs worldwide. Denmark and Norway have offshore programs as does the UK. It is ridiculous the democrats and Obama would oppose offshore drilling.

  10. Satan Says:

It’s only a short term solution, but it won’t "add to the problem". That’s retarded to think that. I think that drilling anywhere should be allowed. Technologically speaking, we have the capabilities to clean up any spills, so that alone should take away the one concern tree-huggers have. Then let’s look at the pluses: Less dependence on foreign oil, more supply – based on our own needs, jobs, lower petroleum prices, etc. This, coupled with Govt. led incentives to car manufacturers for alternatively fueled vehicles would be a COMPLETE boost to the American economy and a Win/Win for ALL Americans.

  11. P.S. Says:

common sense tells us to use the oil.
If you don’t like oil, stop driving a car, stop using anything made of plastic, and put on a friggin head scarf if you love being dependent on muslims.

  13. Clueless Says:

For anyone who lives near this coastal areas it’s not a questions of if there is an accident and oil leak it’s all a matter of when. Coastal states do not want to see their shoreline polluted by offshore drilling. As well, we need to be focusing our energy to away from oil instead of delaying the problems we are already experiencing.

  14. lancitos Says:

The Oil companies have already found huge areas of oil
    south of the US.
The key is to MOVE AWAY from dependence on oil,
because it will be gone eventually.
The key is to use different kinds of fuel, and that is being done.
The sad part is that it could have been done years ago,
and it’s too little too late. That means the Dems got it right
    in the past.

  15. Tracy Says:

    I’m against it offshore drilling.
Mainly because offshore drilling will not guarantee the reduction of gas prices, and you will have to wait at least a decade for it take effect if that "reduction" is possible. Also it will not reduce or dependence on foreign oil because it will only satisfy 3% of our oil consumption needs, and also it will increase the chance for oil spills and depress Florida’s tourism industry.

  16. indy2 Says:

    I do
Bush is all about oil and Cheney is the liar he’s always been
    Iraq has been about oil
Why would oil companies want to do the right thing and explore alternative energy?
How about improving the combustion engine?
You could get well over a 100 miles to the gallon. Hello?
They have purchase the rights to hundreds of patents over the years designed to improve energy efficiency so we, the consumers, would have to spend more
    do some research
Bush doesn’t care about you his cronies own oil
his best buds with the Saudis
    follow the money trail
Oil companies and speculators are throwing this out there to curtail alternate sources of energy because coastal drilling won’t provide anything for over 10 years.

  17. beatle1909 Says:

well, this time they are wrong.
