Why is gasoline, heating oil, natural gas all prices going up, but not motor oil?
Maybe I shouldn’t ask… But we all are suffering from energy prices going up and up, yet when I went to buy some motor oil for an oil change the prices of oil is relatively the same as it always was.
I just went to Auto Zone last night and the motor oil by the quart was basically all the same price. I normally buy the Full Synthetic(Which is the same price as always). The regular oil may have went up a little talking pennys, maybe.
I think you can buy a 10 gallon container of Penzoil motor oil for 10 beans @ walmart, right now.

What makes you think it isn’t going up? I’m paying considerably more for bulk oil this year compared to last year.

It is up. I heard the manager of the oil change place by me complaining about it the other day. They’ll have to follow suit soon too.

It IS going up. Just a couple years ago, it would go "on sale" for $1 per quart. That does not happen any more.

motor oil is sold in a smaller amount, not gallons, it also isn’t refined like gasoline example you pay $180 for a barrle of oil,you refine it for another $190 then pay a bill of $100+fee for workers how much will you charge per gallon fixing up motor oil is not like refining oil

It has gone up quite a bit. I have a friend with an Auto repair business who talks about it every time that I see him. It isn’t that much higher at some stores because they buy in such huge quantities that you can save a little.
