Why is there a petroleum oil connector in my UPS shipment?

Something strange happened when I opened a package that I ordered online. Not only was what I ordered in the box, but there was also a large and heavy piece of metal pipeline, which was labeled "petroleum oil connector" inside the box as well.

The box was severely taped up, as if it had fallen off a truck and had split open, but the contents of my shipment were otherwise undamaged. I am wondering if I should contact UPS about this issue or if I should just throw this thing away. Thoughts?

Be polite and call UPS. The company that ordered the petroleum oil connector may need it desperately.
