Why wont Obama and dems allow us to become energy independant?
The reinstatement of oil drilling bans and removal of millions of acres from oil drilling has resulted in a sharp reduction in US oil/gas drilling which makes us more dependant upon foreign oil. The oil industry states 500,000 jobs could be created immediately with US oil drilling but Obama and dems say NO! Every barrel of domestically produced oil means less we have to send to terrorist supporting middle-east muslim countries but Obama says that is ok.

Independence is not something Obama & dems want Americans to have.

Is this another excuse to whine about obama doin a bad job?

Because oil is not the answer, other power sources are. The US is the Saudi Arabia of natural gas yet only a small percentage of vehicles run on natural gas. Converting vehicles to run on natural gas is relatively easy and inexpensive.
US oil is mostly exported as it is not very good for making gasoline.

You are quoting facts from oil company? Wow you have no credibility whatsoever.

Because as socialists, energy and oil are going to be the next thing the Democrats and Obama try to take over and control.
January 7th, 2010 at 3:21 am
You need to realize that Obama is anti-American. He merely wants energy prices to rise, and for the US to be more dependent on foreign sources of energy.

Yes, I heard again today oil will begin going up and it disturbs me. I have no idea why they can’t get real. It wouldn’t hurt for them to let us become energy independent. We have plenty oil. People need jobs bad. They are messing up to stop oil drilling at this stage. They could start it up and drop it later on. After we get a better form of energy I can understand but they haven’t really started anything considerate. At least I haven’t heard of anything that won’t take years to process.
It’s really stupid for us to sit here on our oil while they run up all the gas prices. We should be able to take care of ourselves.

Blame it on the environmentalists. I lived in CA for the majority of my life and they are the reason why CA does not allow any offshore drilling. Live in AK now and once again it’s environmentalists (most of them imported from the lower 48) blocking drilling, hunting, you name it. Being that enviromentalists typically side with the left, the majority are liberal democrats. Also, the US imports only about 20% of our oil from the Middle East with Saudi Arabia being the chief supplier.

I think you have it backwards. We recently opened up new lands for drilling.
I think we should be drilling for more oil and gas, but that’s not going to make us energy independent. We have billions of barrels of oil in the Guld of Mexico and many more bilions of barrels on the outer continental shelf. If we exploit those resources, we would not be energy "independent," but it would probably lower the cost of oil — for a time.
We need to develop alternative sources of energy. People who beliee more drilling is going to solve our energy problem are kidding themselves.
We need more nuclear power to generate electricity and biofuels (like we may be able to get from algae) to solve the problem of automotive fuels.
If we drill and extract more oil, that’s not going to solve the problem. That oil will be sold at the market price, not at a 50 percent discount. Even then, we will run out of our "new" oil in a few years. The answer is in alternatives, not more of the same.

Perhaps because we know that we can become energy independent in the long run and for the long run without destroying the environment. Why is it that Republicans have such small minds?
January 7th, 2010 at 3:21 am
That is your opinion and you are well entitled to it.
January 7th, 2010 at 3:21 am
There are not enough oil reserves in the US to meet demand at current levels of consumption. We consume more oil per day than China, India, Russia and Germany COMBINED. In the long term, conservation and reduction of use of oil is the only way the US can possibly become energy independent.
Why "you people’ fail to grasp this is beyond me.
January 7th, 2010 at 3:21 am
I honestly believe theirs a lot of Secret treaty’s preventing us from drilling.

in 34 or 40 years the world will be running out of CHEAP OIL
then and then only with the world find a suitable substitute

What happened to the oil from Iraq ?
I suppose we will start getting that when the "liberator" celebrations end.
Try this at the next tea party Conserve, baby,Conserve ! or Innovate, baby, Innovate!
Be serious did you even think about properly inflating your tires ? Its free, it helps and just like in WWII it takes all American to pitch in and do their part. In this case to buy us some time till we get off crude oil and onto something renewable that we control ourselves.
