Would you like to see unemployment drop about 4 points in 6-12 months?
and increase US national security at the same time?
The time for playing games is over. If we force our government to immediately start tapping the billions of cubic ft of natural gas and yes Drilling For Our Own Oil instead of depending on foreign countries you’d be amazed at how many new jobs would be available! I’ve worked in the oil/gas fields and it’s surprising how quickly they can ramp up when allowed to. Nuclear power plants also but they take a few years to complete.
Take a look at this map and one thing that stands out is the oil and natural gas producing states that are suffering.

Just how bad do things have to get before we wake up?
"When President Barack Obama announced his FY2010 budget request last week, he also unveiled a tax increase of over billion for US natural gas and oil production investment, which is the most devastating tax proposal in the history of America ’s oil and natural gas industry. Already the second largest revenue stream for the U.S. Treasury, the oil and gas industry is a large employer, tax payer, and revenue stream for Federal, State and Local Governments."

"Alaska’s Offshore (A Game-Changing Energy Resource):
At a time when the American public is crying out for more domestic energy, Alaska has enormous untapped oil and gas potential, especially in its offshore areas. The Chukchi Sea, off Alaska’s northwest coast, offers more resources than any other undeveloped U.S. energy basin, and, according to experts, may be one of the largest untapped oil and gas sources in the entire world.
According to very conservative estimates from the federal government, the waters off Alaska’s coasts hold about 27 billion barrels of oil and 132 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
This is more than all the current total proven U.S. oil reserves (i.e. approximately 21 billion barrels).
Alaska would have 8th largest oil resources in the world – ahead of Nigeria, Libya, Russia and Norway.
This is more than all the current total proven U.S. oil reserves.
This is more proven oil reserves than Russia and Mexico process.
A recent assessment by the US Geologic Survey concludes that about 30% of the world’s undiscovered natural gas and 13% of its oil are located above the Arctic Circle, with Alaska holding enough oil & natural gas to maintain production for “many years to come."

4% may sound optimistic but think about all the small to medium size businesses that would spring up to support this increase in production! Not just for Alaska but Texas, Louisiana, Florida, California, and the list goes on!
Then think about the added benefit of to all Americans – Lower Utility Bills! Lower prices at the pump! Lower grocery prices! Wake up folks!!!!
And what are the president and congress doing? CAP-N-TRADE ?!?
Ok we need a game plan! Ideas, links, who has the best organization for us to join forces with?

I looked at the maps showing the counties in the middle GA area and they are correct. Some of the biggest companies here have all but gone out of business: Southeast Paper and Mohawk Carpet Co., just to name two of them. SE Paper only now works 4 days then they are off 18 days at a time. And "all" of this has taken place because of Obama. No, it’s not Bush’s fault!
Unemployment is so bad here, you are almost wasting your time to even look for a job. Thank a liberal!
Huckabee for President.

Nah not only MIGHT work… It would work.
Makes WAY TOO MUCH sense for the current administration.
Perhaps Jindal/Palin 2012.

Works for me… what a concept… producing our way out of a recession!
Hmm… if unemployment dropped to 4.5%, we’d be back to the Bush economy… "the worst economy ever" according to the libs.

To answer your question bluntly…I believe that anyone who is NOT in favor of the United States tapping it’s own vast reserves is mentally handicapped. There is NO logical reason to hold that opinion. We have every capability to tap these resources without harming wildlife or causing any pollution and that is a fact. However, facts don’t seem to matter to some people.

YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN’T HEARD? IT’S ALL IN THE GREEN GOVERNMENT JOBS!
Maybe they do know what will work, Because quite obviously your idea makes all the sense in the world. But maybe they have another agenda different than mine and yours?

I agree 100%, and I like the first guys recommendation with Bobby Jindal. That man is smart. Louisiana Governor.

This makes entirely too much sense, something our government seems to be blind too. As they bankrupt us with this healthcare plan, the cap and trade will put us so far under that we will not be able to recover economically.

Whata concept! REAL jobs, using our own resources and no longer relying on other countries. Especially since level-headed people know that this entire global warming fiasco has been debunked over and over again.

our children could be suffering from malnutrition and the liberals still wouldn’t allow drilling…its time to say good night to the liberals…I am looking forward t next November…
always nosnod

I am sure some of the people here would love to see your suggestion work!

And I would go for Jindal/Palin too!

Oh yes very much, but HUGE "Change" would have to happen, I see now they are again putting ads on t.v. for natural gas, the gas that we have oceans and oceans of. But like I said HUGE change has to happen………………..Pray, I do everyday for my nation…….

We could also ship all the illegals home and that would give a lot more jobs to American CITIZENS
Love your point and completely agree with it.

The problem with this solution is that it would solve too many problems. This administration, and admittedly the last one as well, requires problems to exist in order to push their agenda. Remember the mantra…"Never let a crisis go to waste!".
What you describe is the route to a self sustaining and independent United States of America, this is not part of the agenda of this administration. Our "leaders" are driving us down a path that will not allow for solutions to the problem, only a continued wallowing in the misery of dependence on foreign-produced energy commodities as well as a lowering of the standard of living for the lower and middle class, of not the total destruction of the middle class in this nation. Taxing American citizens and industry into oblivion is the only action that seems to have any real consideration in our capital right now.
You have received many answers at this point who have brought up many good additional points in support of what you have outlined. I answer at approximately 7 hrs into your post and as of this time there has been no dismissal of the plan that you present. This leads me to believe that you have received responses from all political parties and have achieved the rare feat of gaining bipartisan support for a solution to our energy crisis.
Unfortunately, although I am totally in favor of what you propose, and believe that it is one of the best ideas to be presented to date, I fear that it has absolutely no chance at coming to fruition because it simply makes too much sense. I certainly hope that I am wrong.
One possibility that may make it happen though… We have elections coming up in 2010 and again in 2012. The republican party is in need of several things right now, not the least of which is a sensible energy policy and a plan to reduce unemployment. Personally I would love to see a bunch of Independents or Libertarians take control of congress and then the White House, but unfortunately I guess we still need the big brands to get things done. The democrats are too infested with socialists and "citizens of the world" to really be concerned with concepts such as national sovereignty and independence. The republicans have lost their way in the last few years and the result was our current situation as well as the current occupation of the White House by a socialist regime. Given the performance of said socialist regime along with that of the radical left wing leadership of the democrat party in the house and senate, it is a pretty safe bet that the 2010 election will send new representatives and senators to Washington, it is our job to see to it that they are of proper character and willing to pursue common sense solutions such as yours when we put them there. Independent, Libertarian, Republican or Democrat, it matters not to me… If a candidate brings this message to the masses, and has the tenacity to make it happen, they will truly be a leader, and worthy of all of our support.

As long as we’re talking about what I’d like to se, how about taxes cut across the board, even better, a flat tax to simplify life, drilling on US property for oil, dismantling affirmative action, kicking out all illegals & sealing the borders, overturning all trade agreements until all play by the same rules, closing all overseas US bases, term limits for congress, giving me back all I put into Social security & medicare with interest, ending those programs, and putting a few more billion towards space exploration to generate some REAL jobs….
for starters.

Why not increse the industrial productivity of the U.S. instead of making tons of distribution centers and comercial checks untill we have to pay more than most other countries for food. And why not create large tarrifs. Tarriffs would make money and at the same time make non-U.S. products higher priced. This would result in U.S. made products look more attractive and will cause people to buy U.S. made things and will naturaly stimulate the ecconomy without giving all the money to Japan and China and Germany, while making money.
